Curriculum CompassTM

Curriculum Navigator & Compass

Curriculum Navigator was initially proposed as a framework by  Dr Mohamed Mustafa Eraky in 2012 as a visual framework for curricular assessment but it never was used as a tool. This application serves as a tool for rapid assessment of curricula based on the perspectives proposed by Dr Eraky in form of visual snapshot. We have named it Curriculum Compass.

How to Use it?

Curriculum Compass is a visual snapshot or display of the direction and overview of a curriculum. Using it is quite easy. A person who understands the basics of curriculum development and analysis of the curriculum can easily use it. A questionnaire has been developed in a beta version for pilot study. You just have to answer basic questions, and the result would display the Curriculum Compass Score and Curriculum Compass Snapshot.  This framework provides an opportunity to assess a curriculum in holistic way.

How to interpret it?

Readers are suggested to go through article written by Dr Eraky in 2012. Briefly, there are twenty different dimensions representing various perspectives and values against which the scoring is done. The scoring is predictive of strength of the curriculum. The Curricular Snapshot is visual framework for depiction of the data. The Green Zone is the area where dots should be to make it more strong. If the data points lie in red zone, the strength of the curriculum is low.
