EXPERIENCE IN ANAESTHESIA FOUR YEAR ANAESTHESIA RESIDENCY PROGRAM

​

2008 to 2012    Resident in the Department of Anaesthesiology, Shalamar Hospital Lahore, Completed four years residency training program successfully.

The Shalamar Hospital Lahore is a 550 beded  hospital attached to the shalamar medical and dental college It had developed excellent teaching environment backed up with most modern medical facilities. The residency programs in various specialties was supervised and managed by trained and qualified faculty.

Year I     We were assigned in preoperative clinic  and postoperative rounds in 4:1 Rota. In addition, I had rotated in General Surgery and Urology with a 1:1 faculty cover.

Year II     I gained practical experience and enhanced my skills in giving Anaesthesia in various specialities including gynecology/obstetrics, Eye and E.N.T. plastic surgery & provided Anaesthesia for Electroconvulsive therapy. I was anaesthetic member of Cardiac arrest team. Also rotated in ICU.

Year III     This year I was rotated in  specialities of Anesthesia, which  included pediatric surgery, Neurosurgery and vascular surgery. A three months period is also spent in ICU as senior Resident and also gave anesthesia outside the operation theatre like in gastroenterology and radiology suits.

Year IV     The fourth post graduate year was the advanced training year. I was assigned lists where I was expected to work as an independent Anaesthetist under minimal supervision. I was rotated in cardiothoracic surgery and Intensive Care unit and trained for, Arterial line and Central Venous Pressure line insertion.
                                                     I also gained useful management experience by coordinating residency program, mortality and morbidity conferences and journal club of the department.


Jul 2013 to august 13     Senior Registrar Anaesthesia, the Shalamar hospital lahore
              After my fellowship I was appointed senior registrar in the department of Anesthesia.
Shalamar Hospital is 550 bedded. It covered all the specialties of anaesthesia. These specialties were recognized by college of Physician and Surgeon Pakistan for Post graduate Medical Educations
                                                      This was my full time residential job. My responsibilities were to manage patients preoperatively, post operatively and in Intensive Care unit. We had all the specialties including General Surgery, Urology, Eye, ENT, and Orthopedic  and specialized surgeries like bariatric surgery. I was responsible for giving and supervising anesthesia to these patients, managing very sick patients in operation theatres. and teaching undergraduate medical and nursing students, interns and residents in Anesthesiology and conduct Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Course. I was also coordinating internship Program of Anesthesia

 

Aug 2013 to date    Assistant Professor, Anaesthesiology, Shalamar Hospital Lahore 

I am working as level 5, Assistant Professor; My clinical privilege are as a full time consultant for all specialist of anaesthesia including cardiothoracic cases.
 
I had seven sessions for clinical activities and three sessions for educational, scholarly and administrative activities per week. We were doing all type of general surgery and specialized surgeries. All major surgeries included esophagectomy, whipples procedures and abdominoperimeal resection neck disssections and endocrine surgeries like adrenal tumors pheochrocytoma sleeve gastectomies are conducted by me. 
Educational activities included tutorials for undergraduate, postgraduate and anaesthesia technicians at regular intervals. The academic activities range from lectures, clinical meetings, ICU round, research projects and participated academic activity outside the hospital. 
We are also managing the patient of ischemic heart disease with triple vessels and left main stem disease with ejection fraction less than 30%,the patient with extreme age associated with end stage respiratory diseases and cardiac diseases are managed according to the international standards especially in orthopedics and urology department.


Jul 2019 to date                         Incharge  OF surgical ICU Shalamar hospital.
                                                    
                                                     Along with operation theaters, I am assigned additional responsibility as head of 
                                                     
                                                     Surgical ICU.

                                       The major surgical procedures like esophagectomy, whipple`s operation, 

                                        abdominoperineal  resection, thoracotomies, major neck tumor surgeries, 
        
                                        patient with extreme age more than 100 years with multiple medical problems 

                                        are well managed according to international standards.

Our ICU is equipped with most advance equipment such as ventilates invasive 

and non invasive , invasive monitoring , Syringe Pumps, infusion pumps and PCA 

Pumps , ABG Machine, Ultrasound Machine, bed side Echocardiography and 

laboratory and Radiology support. 


Mar.2020 to2021.              Incharge of intubation team for covid 19 ward and ICU.

 

 


Teaching of undergraduate 

Lecture:         I am involved in the teaching of under graduate according to the schedule.
I gave lecture to the first years, second year, third year, and fourth year students, 
                                        Taking ward classes of fourth year students in anesthesia and critical care classes of final
                                         year students At Shalamar Hospital  


Curriculum     I  helped in developing the anaesthesia teaching program for undergraduate medical student. The curriculum included

                   reflex sympathetic dystrophies and other types of neuropathies and cancer       pains. 

Performing interventional pain procedures for all typed of chronic pains.
